Secrets of the Home Wood series

Life has other plans...

How true it is, when we are busy scheduling our time to the nth degree, Life often steps in with a whole different agenda. I had big expectations to contribute regularly to this blog, but in the meantime, my first grandson was born, two weeks early and I totally fell in love with him. Today, he is three weeks old and I am grounded by a frustrating head cold. He is too vulnerable yet for grandma's germ-infested hugs and kisses. I am missing him terribly.

So today I am going to post a teaser to the second in the Secrets of the Home Wood series.

Secrets of the Home Wood: the Stalker

Chapter One

Jonathon

“Jon! What is the matter with you?”

Marly stood with one hand on his arm and the other fisted on her hip. They each stood astride their bikes on the gravelled shoulder of the Concession Two road. Her green eyes sparked with hurt. A cool, late summer breeze trickled between the mature trees that lined the road and lifted the red curls on her forehead. Something boiled in his gut with her next words. “All I asked is where are your Mom and Dad?”

Jonathon jerked his arm out of his best friend’s grasp.

“What’s it to you?” He said. He regretted his unfair words immediately when her bow-shaped mouth straightened into a line as she sucked in her bottom lip. He had seen her angry, determined, injured, but never before had she look so wounded. He wanted to make it up to her, to make the look go away but he could only do that by telling her everything. Too late to take it back.

As a participant in your writing group, I so enjoyed following every chapter, every paragraph, your style and polished pieces each month were remarkable and left us with few and often no suggestions. they were near perfect as written. I celebrate this accomplishment and look forward to future sequels because I do not want to leave these characters. Congratulations, Julie, big time.
