2026 FIVB Men's Club World Championship: A Gathering of Giants and Asian Debutants

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has officially announced the list of eight teams participating in the 2026 Men's Club World Championship, one of the pinnacle events in men's volleyball. The tournament will be held in Poland, marking the first time this country hosts a Club World Championship, and also the first time two Asian teams – from Indonesia and Iran – join alongside traditional powerhouses from Europe and South America. Defending champion Sir Safety Perugia of Italy is the most notable name. The team not only retained its world title but also recently won the 2026-2026 CEV Champions League. With a star-studded lineup including Ukrainian outside hitter Oleh Plotnytskyi and excellent setter Simone Giannelli, Perugia is the top favorite. However, tournament history shows nothing is certain, especially when facing experienced opponents. From Brazil, Sada Cruzeiro is one of the most decorated clubs in the tournament's history with five world titles. A special highlight of this year's tournament is the debut of Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi from Indonesia. This is the first men's team from the archipelago to qualify for the Club World Championship after winning the 2026 AVC Men's Champions League. Although considered underdogs compared to European or South American teams, Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi will represent the fighting spirit of Asia. Another Asian representative, Foolad Sirjan of Iran, is also an ambitious team.
